On Saturday March 5th the Kilauea Volcanic eruption in Hawaii made pathways that resembled rivers of fire through the forest. The lava reached more than 80 feet, reaching over trees. The color was red and orange and was hot as temperatures about 2,000 degrees Fahrenheit. The lava burned lots of trees in the forest, and caused more than 150 earthquakes that lasted until Monday morning. According to the New York Times, The eruption didn’t affect people in the nearby park because the eruption was in a “very remote area.” According to the CNN, Kilauea is the youngest volcano in Hawaii and perhaps the world’s most active. The volcano has erupted 34 times since 1952 so I think the volcano will continue to be active in the coming years.
